THERE IS NOTHING MORE FRUSTRATING THAN NOT SEEING YOUR OWN EFFORTS RECOGNISED
Companies have many tools to demonstrate they aims to improve not only earnings but also human society and the surrounding environment, among all, ESG and non-financial reporting.
Most of the investments are now linked to ESG parameters, whoever lags behind on this issue risks being precluded from many opportunities. However, the ESG race has shown many critical issues in the system, which derive from being based on a self-assessment of the company itself, which has the possibility of bending the result in a direction that is favourable to itself, especially for the environmental part.
We know how frustrating it is for an entrepreneur to realise that the efforts he has made are not captured outside the company, while he would have every right to be able to loudly proclaim to investors and local communities the results of the shares he has decided to invest instead of forfeiting them as earnings.
ESG MUST NOT BE AN ALIBI NOT TO CARE ABOUT THE ENVIRONMENT
The criticalities in ESG reporting have been well highlighted by consumer associations and environmental groups in the first place. But also institutional actors and authoritative voices are starting to highlight the distortions, especially in relation to the environmental impact.
The lack of rigor in drafting ESG reporting, more or less in bad faith, can seriously compromise the company’s credibility towards both consumers and investors.
For this reason, it is increasingly useful to rely on scientifically rigorous entities capable of both irrefutably certifying the company’s commitment and communicating it in the clearest and most engaging ways for the public and stakeholders.
THE CONTRIBUTION OF EFESTO TO ESG CREDIBILITY
Efesto offers scientifically rigorous tools to demonstrate the truthfulness of the commitments and results indicated in the social report and through ESG reporting.
Our intervention consists of:
- independent analysis of the environmental impact of the company’s activity
- classification of impacts according to severity and comparison with previous corporate impacts
- planning of measures to contain impacts and strategies for communicating the commitment to the public
- quantitative definition of impact reduction objectives
- assistance in implementing the measures
- verification of the achievement of objectives
- accurate, transparent and scientifically rigorous reporting of activities
- management of communication relating to social and environmental impact.
In this way, it will be possible to demonstrate the commitment made without fearing observation even by technicians in the sector.
OUR ENVIRONMENTAL BELIEF
The work is carried out in accordance with Efesto’s ethical principles relating to environmental protection, based on a rigorous approach to the material produced by the scientific community. In particular, we believe that the most urgent priority facing humanity is greenhouse gas emissions. In this regard, we partially believe easy solutions such as the so-called “compensation measures” whose effectiveness is often greatly overestimated and does not solve the initial problem; however, compensation measures can be the only way if the reduction of impact is not technologically available and only in case their impact is rigorously determined. We consider the environmental impact of a product throughout its life cycle, up to its disposal, and we believe that the entire supply chain should be interested in the impact of its products even after the end of their life. We believe that there are no “good” or “bad” materials, but materials with different characteristics to be considered as a whole and above all with a scientific method. Above all, we refer to the indications of the three Rs (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle) as a principle for reducing impacts.
